There was this designer pair of sunglasses that I fell in love with, but I wasn’t quite ready to buy them. After longingly staring at them for awhile, a thought flashed through my brain; why not make them?
What I loved about this pair was their retro style. After making a trip to Michaels, I went for it and voila, I now have a fun, retro pair of sunglasses that I love. These are a must as we move into warmer weather, so get prepared now! Let me show you how to make a cool pair of retro sunglasses!
Supplies:
-A pair of rimmed sunglasses; AE retro sunglasses
-Glue
-Toothpick/ bobbie pin
I went with a gold chain because I thought it looked better with my hair, but there are plenty of options to pick from. You’ll want to make sure the chain is thin enough to line the rim above the lense, without going over. First I clipped the chain to the length I wanted it, then opened one loop by gently cutting it and bent it back together after hooping it through the other chain loop. Then I took the glue starting from one end of the sunglasses and used a bobbie pin to lay a thin strip of glue and immediately pressed the chain on. It was tricky at first getting it to lay right, but if you pull it taught, it will lay that way naturally. Make sure you leave enough time for it to dry before playing with it (I was a little over eager!) I did have to touch up the ends with a bit more glue and it goes without saying this pair of sunglasses requires a bit more carefulness when handling it.
How to Rock it:
This pair of sunglasses looks great with hair up or down.
